Hello. Today is not the day to talk about black-capped chickadees or much of anything else. Today is the day to go out in the streets and protest the Supreme Court’s decision to slash the rights of women and others in America. Today is the day to call your senators and congresspeople.
Alaska remains, for now, a state where abortion is legal but there are many here who, I’m sure, will try to put an end to it. They are, oddly, usually the same people who groused about masks restricting their freedom. (“Groused” being far too nice of a word for what they did. Beware: hateful actions are on the other side of this link.) This is why I don’t report on politics. I can’t be neutral on these issues. I refuse to be neutral on these issues.
I find it funny when people say they don’t care about politics. Politics is what governs what we can or can’t do. Everything is politics. Well, sort of. In this case, it’s about a packed court making a choice that doesn’t reflect what the majority of Americans believe or want. Why is it so hard for some people to keep their religion to themselves? Leave the rest of us the hell out of it.
I’ll be back with the full chickadee report in a day or two. Well, part of the chickadee report. I haven’t talked to the chickadee expert yet but…I have much to tell you. (Don’t check my Twitter account unless you like spoilers.)
